JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR - 4030

CRITERIA: LEVEL II  LEVEL III  LEVEL IV
Level I or Level II branch, supervises 2-5 (FTE*) employees or utilization of required technical skills. Level II branch, supervises 5 or more (FTE*) or utilization of required technical skills. Level II branch, supervises more than one department in food or non-food.
     
REPORTS TO: BRANCH MANAGER  
SUPERVISES: ASSISTANT DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR or AS ASSIGNED    

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:

To operate the department according to Company operating standards, to satisfy customer requirements in related products, and to merchandise to exceed established profit goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To insure that customer satisfaction is maximized though proper stock levels, stock mix, and merchandise presentations.

2. To achieve budgeted sales, inventory turns, and gross profit within the department.

3. Select, train, supervise and evaluate all personnel to insure attainment of high individual productivity and AC's standards in customer service, housekeeping, merchandising, paperwork completion, Company policies and procedures, and store security.

4. Maintain communication level with Branch Manager to insure a working relationship that maximizes the attainment of department goals in the context of overall store goals.

5. Maintain strict inventory control within the department.

6. Maintain budgeted payroll percentages in the department as outlined by the Branch Manager.

7. Communicate with appropriate Category Manager and vendors on needs and results within the department.

8. Implement and facilitate all promotional programs to insure maximum success.

DUTIES:

1. Place orders as necessary to minimize stock-outs, maintain desired stock mix, and maximize turns.

2. Maintain and revise store set and shelf tagging system to maintain optimum stock levels, product mix, operating efficiency and assist utilization.

3. Price check competition regularly revising price sensitive items as needed and insuring proper pricing.

4. Develop and maintain weekly display plan for all end caps and other promotional display areas with attention given to product mix, signage, store inventory and budgeted gross profit.

5. Facilitate regular customer service training to insure every employee within the department understands the importance of our customers and possesses the skill to efficiently satisfy their needs.

6. Conduct weekly department evaluations with the Branch Manager to determine any action necessary to maintain store standards.

7. Receive, record in log using packing slip, and price all products in accordance with Company procedures.

8. Reconcile receiving log with inventory register monthly within five days of receipt in store.

9. Record and submit all IBT's for transfer, MTS`s for supplies taken from stock, and MU/MD`s for promotion, clearance, and damaged product weekly.

10. Prepare weekly schedule and daily work lists to insure all functions are accomplished, while maintaining budgeted payroll as outlined by the Branch Manager.

11. Assist in annual budget preparation with respect to sales, inventory levels and gross profit.

12. Conduct performance evaluations for all employees in department as scheduled.

13. Review monthly sales and gross margins with the Branch Manager with attention given to its comparison with budgeted goals.

14. Review all promotions, weekly or otherwise, and communicate your observations to both the Branch Manager and appropriate Category Manager to insure continued success.

15. Routine maintenance as necessary or emergency maintenance as required.

16. Any other duties as assigned.
